One of the most useful tool for an assistant director working on large sets both interior and exterior.   How many times when you try to communicate to your colleague “...move this...this way.” and just confuse the hell of the other person?  This simple tool solves it all.  

Do have to be careful not to shine this on a person’s face though.  I usually start pointing at the ground and move my way to the target.
